Visit Wat Chiang Mun (AD 1296), the oldest temple within the city walls.  Drive through many different parts of the northern capital, passing residential areas, notable foreign establishments, handsome government buildings and shopping at the busy Ton Pa Yom or Som Pet Market where you can buy local products in season.

Visit the famous Thai Celadon Kiln and see exquisite high-fired stoneware being handmade by traditional methods. See Thai silk and cotton being woven on handlooms by the pretty girls of Sankampaeng and the colourful paper and parasol makers of Bor Sarng. See also lacquerware, teak-wood carving and silverware making. 

Visit Phu-Ping Rajanives, Their Majesties' Winter Palace (4,300 feet above sea level), and see the delightful gardens.  Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep is a most sacred temple containing a holy relic of the Lord Buddha.

Visit a quaint and picturesque Meo hilltribe village set in an attractive hillside spot and see the Meo tribespeople dressed in their colourful traditional costumes. The tour also takes in Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep (3,500 feet above sea level) and also Their Majesties' Phu-Ping Palace on the days when the palace is open to the public.

Visit a jungle area north of the city to see elephants at work. The programme includes a demonstration of how trained elephants are used to help in lumber work. Stops are made at the beautiful Mae Sa Waterfall, and at an orchid nursery.
