THREE-DAY MAE KOK/CHIANG RAI/GOLDEN TRIANGLE         

First day:   
Leave Chiang Mai for Tha Ton landing on the Mae Kok River with a visit to see elephants at work en route. 
Then take a scenic trip along the Mae Kok River to Chiang Rai, making stops at various hilltribe villages along the way. 
Lunch is provided.  Dinner and overnight in Chiang Rai. (L, D).

Second day:  
After breakfast start a full-day tour by visiting Yao and E-Kaw hilltribe villages. 
Then travel to Chiang Saen to visit an old temple.  Continue to the Golden Triangle, the point where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos meet.
Visit the Opium Museum. After lunch at the Golden Triangle, visit the border town of Mae Sai, before returning to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Chiang Rai. (B, L, D).  

Third day:  
Breakfast at the hotel and visit a most sacred and elegant temple at Doi Tung. 
From here, a spectacular view can be seen when the weather is clear. The Palace of the late Princess Mother (the King's mother) can be seen in the distance.
Also visit a beautiful botanical garden near the palace.
Afternoon return to Chiang Mai by road. Alternatively, clients can fly direct from Chiang Rai to Bangkok with an additional charge for air fare.(B, L).
