TWO-DAY MAE KOK/CHIANG RAI/GOLDEN TRIANGLE  TWO-DAY MAE KOK/CHIANG RAI/GOLDEN TRIANGLE (CNXEXT03)
First day:
Leave Chiang Mai for Tha Ton landing on the Mae Kok River with a visit to see elephants at work en route.
Then take a scenic trip by longtail boat to Chiang Rai, making stops at various hilltribe villages along the way.
Lunch is provided.
Dinner and overnight in Chiang Rai. (L, D).
Second day:
After breakfast, visit the border town of Mae Sai, Thailand's northernmost point and an ancient Thai-Burmese trading post.
Proceed for lunch at the Golden Triangle, the point where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos meet.
Also visit the Opium Museum. Afterwards visit Chiang Saen and its old temple, then return to Chiang Mai by road.
Alternatively, clients can fly direct from Chiang Rai to Bangkok with an additional charge for air fare. (B, L).
