TIGER TEMPLE & HELLFIRE PASS The highlight of this full-day excursion is a visit to the remote forest temple of Wat Pha Luangtabua, some 160 kms from Bangkok. In these beautiful surroundings, dedicated Buddhist monks live with numerous wild animals including ten tigers, which they take for a walk on a leash every afternoon. This is one of the most extraordinary sights you will ever see in Thailand, and is probably unique in the world. In such proximity to the tigers, all visitors must exercise caution, and never act in any way that might disturb or frighten the beasts.
In the morning, the tour visits the famous "Bridge on the River Kwai", the War Cemetery. Then travel on to visit Hellfire Pass, the deepest cutting on the unfinished rail line. Also visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial funded by the Australian Government and constructed in cooperation with the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, commemorates all those who died as prisoners of war here and elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region during the World War II.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
To all tour participants
Just as with a visit to a game reserve where wild animals are not caged, the tour to the forest temple carries a small amount of risk. To ensure maximum safety, all participants must fully comply with all instructions given by the tour guide or the monks. World Travel Service accepts no responsibility for any accident or injury.
