MONUMENT OF THE LOWER NORTHEAST  3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS : Depart from Bangkok every TUESDAY
Day 1 Bangkok/Khao Yai National Park
Depart Bangkok and visit the ruins of Ayutthaya, the former capital city of Thailand. Then travel to the Greenery Resort Khao Yai and check in.
Lunch at the hotel.
After lunch, visit Khao Yai National Park which covers 542,000 acres of forest, jungle and grassland spread over rolling hills. It is an area of magnificent natural beauty and protected within its borders are bears, elephants, monkeys, deer and various species of birds and butterflies.
Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2 Khao Yai National Park/Dan Kwian/Phanom Rung/Surin
Breakfast at the hotel.
Depart the hotel for Nakhon Ratchasima, more commonly known as Korat, which is the commercial centre of, and gateway to the Northeast. Visit the village of Dan Kwian, where a unique and very attractive type of local earthernware is made.
Lunch at Ban Kub Tonmai Restaurant.
After lunch, visit the impressive hilltop Khmer temple of Khao Phanom Rung, and the nearby picturesque Prasat Muang Tam, which was built before Phanom Rung and whose foundations date from the 10th century A.D.
Proceed to Surin, well known for its annual Elephant Round-up and check in at Thong Tarin or Maneerote Hotel.
Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3 Surin/Ubon Ratchathani/Pa Taem/Bangkok
Breakfast at the hotel.
Travel to Ubon Ratchatani with visit to Prasat Sikhoraphum which consists of five prangs (pagodas), the principal structure being 32 meters high.
Arrive at Ubon Ratchathani and check in at Laithong Hotel.
Lunch at Maenam Song Si Restaurant, overlooking the point where the Mekong and Moon rivers meet; here the water from each river is of a different colour, giving a very striking effect. Then visit Pa Taem (Taem Cliff) in the easternmost district of Ubon Ratchathani Province. There are prehistoric paintings on the side of overhanging cliffs, protected from the elements. As a result, they have remained remarkably clear to this day.
Arrive back at the hotel.
At leisure or visit Wat Supatnaram, the first Buddhist temple of the Dharmayukti Sect in Northeastern Thailand. The temple is situated on the bank of the Moon River not far from the town centre.
Transfer to Ubon airport and depart by TG031 for Bangkok.
Arrive at Bangkok domestic airport and transfer to Bangkok hotel.
